Samsung Mass Produces Energy Efficient Automotive UFS 3.1 Memory: Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a trailblazer in semiconductor technology, has announced the commencement of mass production for its cutting-edge automotive Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.1 memory solution.

Specifically designed for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, this new solution aims to elevate the mobility experience for consumers while delivering industry-leading energy efficiency.

The comprehensive UFS 3.1 lineup, available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions, caters to various customer needs and paves the way for future automotive applications, including electric and driverless vehicles.

With an impressive 33% reduction in energy consumption compared to its predecessor, the 256GB variant sets new standards in energy efficiency, offering a sequential write speed of 700 MB/s and a sequential read speed of 2,000 MB/s.

Hyunduk Cho, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Memory Product Planning Team, emphasized the new UFS 3.1 solution’s versatility and its contribution to optimizing IVI systems while adhering to next-generation memory trends that demand higher ESG (Energy, Safety, and Green) standards.

Samsung aims to further expand its presence in the automotive semiconductor market following the successful launch of its UFS 3.1 solution for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The automotive UFS 3.1 solution meets the stringent AEC-Q100 Grade 2 semiconductor quality standard for automobiles, ensuring reliable performance across a wide temperature range, from -40 to +105 degrees Celsius.

By the end of the year, Samsung plans to deliver its UFS 3.1 products to international automakers and component producers.

The company has already earned ASPICE Level 2 certification for its ADAS-focused UFS 3.1 product, demonstrating its commitment to delivering stable and high-quality memory solutions to the automotive industry.

Samsung has been rapidly expanding its vehicle memory business since 2015, offering a range of memory solutions tailored to automotive needs, including AutoSSD, Auto LPDDR5X, and Auto GDDR6.

With the ever-increasing demand for data storage and computational capabilities in the automotive sector, Samsung remains dedicated to providing optimized memory solutions and solidifying its position as a market leader.
